History
Joshua was born and raised in Montreal and has been living in Toronto since 2009. He went to law school at both the University of Toronto and the University of Ottawa. He also did a semester of law school at Peking University in China where he studied the Chinese legal system. Prior to that, Joshua spent several years in China, where he learned to speak Mandarin Chinese.
Since his call to the bar in 2011, Joshua has practiced litigation, primarily in the area of personal injury, disability and insurance law. Oluwatoowo Soremekun is a result oriented professional with legal degrees across two continents. Toowo holds an LLM degree in International business law from the Osgoode Hall Law School, York University and an LLB degree in Law from the prestigious University of Lagos, Nigeria.
She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and has completed the barrister portion of the bar exams of the law society of Ontario. Toowo as preferably called, is on track to be called to the Ontario Bar in 2021.
She commenced her career in Lagos Nigeria where she practiced corporate commercial law before moving to Toronto Canada in 2018. Toowo completed her NCA requirements in 2019 and thereafter enrolled in the Law Practice Program in 2020 where she developed an interest in Personal Injury Law.

Debra Henry, originally from England, joined Joshua Goldberg law in 2021 as a legal assistant. Debra has worked as a legal assistant for 15 years in the area of Plaintiff personal injury and medical malpractice law. Debra works with Joshua Goldberg and Daniela Gallardo doing daily legal tasks, administrative support, including managing client files, communicating with adjusters and legal counsel, setting up medical and legal appointments, arranging examinations for discovery and all other required tasks working within a law office.
Debra is very compassionate and caring when working with clients and is dedicated to doing her absolute best supporting clients through the litigation process.
Debra is spiritual and walked the Camino De Santiago in Spain a few years ago. Debra loves reading, walking in nature and travelling. Debra recently welcomed a new puppy into her home. Determining Fair And Reasonable Compensation
Pursuing an inappropriate amount of compensation is sure to receive an unfavourable response in court. Fortunately, there are laws and precedents set with guidelines for the maximum amount of compensation depending on the type of claim and injury it is. A lawyer will carefully calculate for you what compensation to pursue.
Factors Influencing Compensation Amounts
- Injury severity. The more damage, the higher the compensation. A catastrophic injury will result in a higher settlement than a non-catastrophic injury.
- Recovery period. A permanent injury, long-term injury, or disability as a result of the accident will equate to higher compensation.
- Impact of the accident on income. An injury that has impacted your ability to earn income will result in a higher compensation amount. If you are unable to work or have other disruptions, such as inability to attend school, training, vacation, or special event, this all has an effect on compensation.
- Existing legislation. In personal injury law, there is applicable legislation that acts as guidelines to compensation amounts.

In accordance with the Law Society of Ontario, we generally charge a contingency fee between 20% and 33% of your settlement, plus HST. However, the percentage we decide to charge will be based on the severity of your injuries and the complexity of your case.
